Education
and experience: Stahel works today as a consultant in the field of
business management and industrial analysis. An alumnus of the
Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zürich, where he
received a diploma in architecture and town planning in 1971, he worked
for several years as a private architect in the UK and Switzerland;
in 1973, he joined the Battelle Geneva Research Centres as project
manager in the Centre for applied economics, working mainly in the
fields of business strategy and feasibility studies; in 1980 he
became personal assistant to the CEO of a holding company with worldwide
activities in railway maintenance, shipping and real estate,
with special responsibility as a financial controller.
Since
1984, Stahel has worked as an independent business consultant mainly
in the fields of:

into utilization-related technologies such as the re-use, repair,
reconditioning and technological upgrading of
components, goods and systems, from points of view of technical
and commercial strategies as well as industrial design;

risk
management and insurance, in terms of an industrial and a service
economy,

regional
economic development,
-
in
most European countries, the U.S. and Middle and Far Eastern
countries.
